1.) A scale model is a representation or copy of an object that is larger than the actual size of it.
2.) One type of scale model is the study/ working model, which is quickly built to show the preliminary nature of the design. The other type, presentation/ finished model, is a fully developed design with a lot of detail and high levels of craftmanship.
3.) Advantages of a working scale model are that elevations can be moved and taped into place when needed fro study or review. Also, it can be easily taken apart for storage and transportation. Limitations are that is does not show design details as accurately and is less realistic in terms of space.
4.) Advantages of a presentation scale model are that is shows design details like colors and textures. Limitations include high cost, time consuming, and requires expensive tools.
5.) We will be making one working model of our entire apartment and one presentation model of 2 to 3 rooms.

About Jed Johnson
Master Bedroom from Contemporary/ Beach & Country Residences, Paradise Island, Bahamas |
I really like the interior design of Jed Johnson. In 1967, he delivered a telegram to Andy Warhol's Factory and was hired only to sweep the floors. Through this job Johnson got an opportunity to direct Any Warhol's Bad. He lived with Warhol for several years and deisgned the inside of his townhouse. While living with Warhol, he found success as a film director and an interior designer. This was essentially his design school. Johnson died at the age of 47 in the tragic crash of TWA flight 800 in 1996. His line of work is known as Jed Johnson Associates Inc. Johnson's style was luxurious but with simplicity and freshness. He believed that less was more but also made rooms look very modern. Many of his rooms were rather neutral colors. One particular work of his is a library from his Contemporary/ Urban Residences collection, found in the New York City Residence. Another is a living room from the New York City Apartment, Contemporary/ Urban Residences collection. This room contains splashes of color with orange couch pillows and splashes of zebra pattern on stools. His third, and my favorite design, is a master bedroom in Paradise Island, the Bahamas. It is from his Contemporary/ Beach Residences collection. The room looks very luxurious with the focal point of a shiny chandelier but also very natural because of the neutral colors and lighting. The boxy furniture also gives it a very contemporary feel. This room is found in the picture above.

Welcome!
Heyy! Welcome to my Functional Art Blog! I am a sophomore at Victor High School. I am a cheerleader for the fall and winter seasons. I love summer time and hanging out with friends (: After high school, I would like to go to college, possibly for something medical.
I love going to the mall because I think it's fun to pick out new, stylish outfits. I love bows and the color pink. I also really like polka dots and stripes. Some design lines that I like are Vera Bradley and Coach. When doing art projects, I really enjoy working with materials rather than drawing.I do like interior design, however.
My goal of this blog is to talk about my artwork along with others artwork so that I can improve as an artist. I would also like it to expose me to many different forms of art so that I'm more aware of artists and their work.
